I’ve lived in upstate New York since 2001 when I took a job at an international youth leadership camp. I didn’t plan to stay very long, but I fell in love with Renzo and the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley. I’ve lived here ever since. I spent most of my childhood growing up in New Jersey, although my family moved around a lot when I was a child because my dad was in the military. I went to college and graduate school in Washington, DC where I studied international affairs.
I’m passionate about working with young people. I’m curious about the world and have dedicated myself to working on international programs that have a positive social benefit. I currently work as an international educator for a non-profit organization. I enjoy working with students and encouraging them to learn about other cultures. I’m inspired by how their travel experiences can make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. I look forward to sharing my love of travel and adventure with our child.
I have a lot of hobbies and enjoy learning new skills. I read a lot — about one book a week — and recently joined my first book club. I love to cook and bake. I’ve taught myself how to bake bread from scratch, make homemade pasta, and create my own unique flavors of jam. I enjoy spending time outside in nature, tending my vegetable garden, hiking in the mountains, and going for long walks in the woods. During the summer, I like to shop at the farmers’ market for fresh vegetables and fruit. I also like to go to outdoor festivals and attend local community events. I love music and play the piano, sing, and dance.
Over the past few years, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my nephew Leo and being a part of his life as much as I can. I visit him as often as possible and we always have a great time together. On my last trip to see him in California, we had so many adventures together. We visited the science museum and we went to the beach where I taught him how to fly a kite. We also cooked together, making homemade spinach pasta. I adore him, as well as my other nieces and nephews, and am excited for them to meet our child.
“Soon after meeting Jennifer, I knew she was the one for me! Jennifer’s an incredibly caring and passionate woman who is always ready to lend a hand to friends and others in need. She’s a good listener and likes to help other people work through their problems. I love to see her smile, laugh, and have fun! Jennifer’s been an amazing friend and partner to me. I can’t think of anyone else I’d want to spend the rest of my life with. She’s patient, loving, and kind. It’s been great to see her get so involved in her nephew Leo’s life. I know she will make an incredible mother. I can’t wait to share with her the joys and challenges of parenting.” —Renzo
