Our Home

Since 2003, we’ve lived together in our house located in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room with a large picture window, a large kitchen with lots of room for cooking and entertaining, an office space, and another small room that would make a great space for a child to play in. We’ve done a lot of work inside and outside the house over the years, from large-scale renovations to many do-it-ourselves projects. We regularly have friends and family over to enjoy Jennifer’s home-cooked meals.

What we love most about our house is the beautiful land that surrounds it. We live on a large, wooded lot, surrounded by trees and wildlife with plenty of room for children to play, explore, and dream. We have two decks that overlook the yard where we spend a lot of time reading and hanging out. We have a small vegetable garden, which we built ourselves, and where we grow tomatoes, peppers, and herbs each summer. We like to play yard games, lie beneath the tall trees in our hammocks, gaze at the stars, and make camp fires and roast marshmallows.

Our Cats

We both love animals, especially our two cats, Kwizera and Cookie. Kwizera is a tabby cat and her name is an African word that means “hope”. We adopted her as a young kitten in 2004. She is very friendly and easy going. She loves to snuggle on our laps and she often watches out the window, waiting for us to come home. Cookie, a black and white cat, is the newest member of our family. We adopted her from an animal shelter in 2017. She has a very loving and playful personality. Cookie loves to have her belly rubbed, play with her toys, and sit in the window watching the birds and squirrels in our yard.

Our Community

We live in the Hudson Valley, a beautiful area of upstate New York. Our home is in a community known for its cute towns, outdoor activities, and rich cultural life. We enjoy taking advantage of the natural beauty of the area by hiking in the nearby mountains, biking on local trails, canoeing at the lake, going for long walks, and snowshoeing. The nearest local town, a popular tourist destination, is a short drive away and there are many other towns and cities in close driving distance. Throughout the year our community hosts regular kid-focused events and activities, like pumpkin picking, puppet shows, and corn mazes. There are several nearby playgrounds and our school district is one of the best in the county.
